A Taste of Bushkill Falls

So, we're still on vacation, the poison is still spreading to new spots, although the old spots are looking better, and I promise I'll read everyone's diaries as soon as I get back to work. But I wanted to give y'all a taste of what we've been doing the past couple of days:

Bull Run being the most famous. There's a waterfall (no idea who the photographer there is) on Scott's Run in VA that's cool. Great little pool to hang out in when it's 90°F out. Right outside the Beltway.

I guess the thing that really blows me away about Bushkill is that you don't expect dramatic scenery in Pennsylvania (or anyplace else along the Appalachians, really). I mean, sure the east coast has mountains but their old - they're eroded, rounded, more "rolling hills" than majestic peaks. You expect "white water" to be a 5 foot drop, not a series of 50 drops down a gorge that's less than 300 feet wide at the top.

don't mind me, I'm just sitting here in a hotel lobby trying not to scratch my "if-it's-not-spreading-why-does-it-keep-showing-up-in-new-spots" poison.
I'm a gonna head back to Lock 60 with some agent orange and a match.

New River, Cheat River, both have serious gorges and whitewater.
For that matter the Potomac from Great Falls down to Chain Bridge regularly kills kayakers.

Taughannock Falls and Letchworth Park for huge falls and dramatic gorges.

Unfortunately, there's way too many visitors, so they keep you on hand made wooden walkways to protect the landscape. Even early on a Tuesday morning we must have seen a hundred people on the 2.5 mile trail.
